Greta Thunberg at UN Meeting – ‘You have stolen My Dreams’

Young Climate Activist, Greta Thunberg spoke at the United Nations Climate Change Action Summit on Monday and left the room silent.

Jaws dropped as the 16-year-old preached home truths about the ever-changing climate and shunned the leading voices of the summit for their ignorance and greed.

‘This is wrong. I shouldn’t be up here.’ She urged the UN headquarters. ‘I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet you have come to us young people for help. How Dare you!’

Thunberg has recently been referred to as ‘The Voice of the Planet’ and has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for outstanding contributions to the climate change movement. The Swedish schoolgirl has been demanding action from the government for over a year, resulting in parliament and school strikes all lead by the young activist.

‘People are suffering. People are dying and dying ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of mass extinction, and all you can talk about is the money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth.’ She said with disgust. ‘How dare you!’ She pleaded, holding back the tears, ‘For more than 30 years, the science has been crystal clear. How dare you continue to look away and come here saying that you’re doing enough when the politics and solutions needed are still nowhere in sight!’

The sixteen-year-old informed the UN that even the strictest emission reductions that are being discussed would only give the planet a 50% chance of limiting climate heating. ‘These odds are not enough.’

‘We will not let you get away with this!’ Thunberg announced. ‘Right now, is where we draw the line.’

A very emotional Greta Thunberg sat in front of the General Assembly and shouted with utter fury, ‘How dare you! You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words. You say you hear us and that you understand the urgency. But no matter how sad and angry I am, I do not want to believe that, because if you really understood the situation and still kept on failing to act, then you would be evil and that I refuse to believe.’

Now, if that doesn’t motivate you to change your lifestyle to change the planet then nothing will!

You Go Greta!
