Harry Styles has ‘Respectfully Declined’ the Role of Prince Eric in Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’

We thought the casting had been set in stone, with the excitement flooding the internet around Halle Bailey playing out mermaid princess, Ariel, it was only right to cast Harry Styles as her Love interest in the Disney Live Action remake of the ‘The Little Mermaid’.

But according the The Wrap, this was fake news as a source close to styles has stated that the former One Direction frontman ‘Respectfully Declined’ the role ‘With knowledge of the project’.

Reports however did circle in July that the ‘Dunkirk’ actor was being courted by Disney for the character of Prince Eric.

Despite being a ‘fan of the project’, there are no indications as to why Harry turned down the role. Had the singer accepted the role he would have potentially co-starred with Jacob Tremblay as ‘Flounder’, Awkwafina playing ‘Scuttle’ and Melissa McCarthy as the sea witch villain ‘Ursula’.
