19-year-old Hallie Bailey has been officially cast as Disney Princess Ariel in the new live-action remake of the Little Mermaid.
Bailey, originally from Atlanta moved to LA in order to pursue her dreams in music. One half of an RnB duo with sister, Chloe, they both quickly rose to fame when they posted a Beyonce cover to Youtube. Catching Queen B’s eye, they were signed to Beyonce’s record label & went on to bag a slot on the Wrinkle in Time soundtrack with original song ‘Warrior’ and even performed at the 2019 Super Bowl which led to being nominated for two Grammy’s – Best New Artist & Best Urban Contemporary album.
Seeing them as her little proteges, Beyonce have included the young duo in her music video ‘All Night’ and have even supported her on a few dates in her world tours. – Talk about striking gold.
Now the teenage singing sensation is following in her idol’s footsteps and is playing the underwater Disney Princess Ariel.
Celebs have been flooding in with supportive comments for the young singer.
Ariana Grande took to Instagram and said, ‘I can’t express how happy and excited I am at all.’
Other stars expressing their joys for Hallie’s achievement are the likes of Willow Smith, Jordan Sparks & Gigi Hagid.
Her elder sister couldn’t be prouder of the other half of her duo as she expressed her excitement in an interview, they both conducted with Time Magazine.

The 21-year-old explained ‘From 10 and eight, we just wrote our own songs, and that’s how we learned.’
‘Ever since we were little girls, our dad installed in us the importance of not having to rely on anyone and having a do it yourself attitude.’
Whilst nothing else has been confirmed about the movie, other celebs have been rumoured to star in the live action remake, such as Jacob Trembley to play flounder, Awkwafina to play Scuttle and the incredible Melissa MCcarthy to play Ursula!
