Emmy Awards 2019 – The Brits Stole the Show
The awards ceremony that celebrates the best of Television, took place last night in Los Angeles.
With many British shows all up for major title wins, Fleabag, Game of Thrones and Killing Eve stole the show with their multiple trophy wins.
Fleabag creator, Phoebe Waller-Bridge showed us how Britain does it with a win of 6 awards for award such as Best Comedy Actress, Best Comedy Series and Best Comedy Writing.
In utter bewilderment, the creator of the show commented, ‘It’s so wonderful & reassuring to know that a dirty, pervy, angry and messed up woman can make it to the Emmy’s!’
As she took to the stage for a third and final time to collect her award, Waller-Bridge laughed. ‘This is getting ridiculous!’
‘Fleabag started as a one-woman show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014, and the journey has been absolutely mental to get here.’
Killing Eve dominated the awards once again as Jodie Comer took home yet another award for Best Leading Actress in her portrayal as Villanelle in series 2 of the BBC Series.
‘I was not expecting to get up on this stage tonight.’ Comer laughed in shock.
‘I cannot believe I’m in a category alongside these women, one of them who is my co-star Sandra Oh.’
‘Safe to say Sandra, that this Killing Eve journey has been an absolute whirlwind and I feel so lucky to have shared the whole experience with you.’
Chernobyl took home best limited series, dramatising the 1986 Russian Nuclear Disaster.
In other series’, Game of Thrones stole the show after winning Best Drama Series, despite the final season getting mixed reviews.
Peter Dinklage also won Best Supporting Actor, leaving the full Emmy win for the fantasy show at a total of 12 awards!
Billy Porter also made Emmy’s history after becoming the first openly gay black man to win the category of Best Leading Drama Actor for his role in Pose.
